Chili Spice Mix

Chili Spice Mix

This spice mix can be applied to a wide range of Mexican inspired meals including:

  • tacos (beef/ chicken / steak / carnitas),
  • quesadillas,
  • burritos,
  • chili etc.

Since there is flour in this spice mix, the meals must be cooked.  If you’d like to sprinkle it on top of yogurt (for example) or any other dish you don’t plan on cooking or baking, don’t add flour to your spice mix.  Otherwise, it is highly recommended for consistency purposes.

Note the measurements should suffice for 2 – 5 spices (Chilis require more, Tacos less).  Each of those recipes will suffice for at least 2 individuals.  Therefore the nutritional data suffices for 10 servings.

  • as a dressing to a delicious and fresh Mexican salad,
  • as a sauce for a yummy wrap.

Today I would like to present my recipe for a delicious salsa dip.  Of course, I am using only healthy and fresh ingredients.  No pre-mixed spices.

I like to cook a few of my ingredients in a pan – to bring out the flavor of the ingredients.

Instructions
  1. In a pan, briefly sear the 3 types of bell pepper, half of the red onion and 10 of the tomatoes. Allow to cook for 3 - 5 minutes.
  2. Add can of fresh chopped tomatoes and cook for another 3 - 5 minutes.
  3. In a blender, add cooked ingredients and remainder of ingredients (garlic, coriander, etc) - except for remaining onion half and remaining tomatoes.
  4. Cut remaining tomatoes and onion in small cubes and add to the finely chopped salsa. Ready to serve!
